What Goes Around Comes Around #2
A reflection on how repeated patterns of thought and behavior create cycles that return over time in the form of outcomes and relationships.
I am beginning to see that outcomes are not random—they are part of cycles that build over time. “What goes around comes around” is not just about consequences—it is about patterns.
The way I think, act, and interact with people creates a kind of feedback loop. It may not be immediate, but those patterns eventually return in the form of results, relationships, and situations.
Looking back, I often viewed outcomes in isolation without connecting them to the patterns that produced them. Recovery is teaching me that what I consistently put out—through my behavior, communication, and approach—shapes what I eventually experience. It is not random. It is patterned.
This also connects directly to personal growth, because if I want different results, I have to change what I consistently do. It also affects how I engage with others, because the way I show up in relationships often shapes how those relationships function over time.
For me, “what goes around comes around” is not about punishment or reward—it is about accepting that my actions create cycles that eventually return to me. Today, I am trying to be more aware of what I add to those cycles.
