Success #2
A reflection on defining success through consistent alignment with effective actions rather than relying on outcomes or external validation.
The difference is where I place the definition. I am beginning to see that success is not just about outcomes—it is about how aligned my actions are with the direction I am trying to move in.
If I define success only by results, it becomes unstable and dependent on things outside my control. But if I define it by how I show up—how consistently I act, how honest I am, and how engaged I remain—then it becomes something I can work with each day.
Looking back, I focused more on results or external validation and paid less attention to the process that actually creates change. Recovery is teaching me that success is built through consistent alignment with what actually works, not simply what appears successful.
This also connects directly to “one day at a time,” because success is not something that happens all at once—it is built through daily choices. It also connects to trusting the environment, because progress often comes from consistently engaging with structure rather than trying to control everything myself.
For me, success is less about where I end up and more about how I operate along the way. Today, I am trying to align my actions with what I know works rather than simply chasing outcomes.
