What Goes Around Comes Around #1
Recovery reveals that patterns form over time. What we repeatedly put into the world eventually shapes what returns to us.
The cycle forms over time. I am beginning to see that “what goes around comes around” is not just about karma—it is about patterns and feedback.
In the past, I sometimes separated my actions from their outcomes. I focused more on what I wanted in the moment without fully connecting it to what it would eventually produce.
But what I consistently put out—through my behavior, thinking, and the way I treat others—tends to come back in some form.
It is not always immediate, but over time, there is often an alignment between input and outcome.
Recovery is making those patterns more visible. The way I show up, the effort I put in, and the honesty I practice all shape what I eventually experience.
This also connects directly to consequential thinking, because understanding that actions cycle back encourages me to pause and consider what I am contributing to that cycle. It also connects to “you get back what you put in,” but adds a longer-term and relational dimension.
For me, this concept is about accountability. What I experience is often connected to what I have been consistently putting out over time. Today, I am trying to be more intentional about what I contribute, knowing it shapes what eventually comes back.
